That sounds more like a reboot than a sequel to me..

the original idea had a giant resort built on the island, along with a revamped park where the dinosaurs are kept. Pretty much "Jurassic Park" version 2.0, then I expect the dinosaurs to escape again and everything to go awry. I saw a few old concept pictures of the resort/parks design.

However, there have supposedly been many script rewrites since that idea, so I am not sure how much it's changed.

I have every anticipation that this will suck major nuts. Unfortunately. At the very least, I doubt it'll live up to the 10+ years of anticipation.

they have a new director, and the cast for the main characters is set already (at least we believe it is). Little bits of the story gathered from casting, hints at a "family" being thrown into some serious dino drama.

The lead male actor (Chris Pratt) says it's supposed to be a worthy sequel, but actors always say stuff like that to get hype.

The Dino special effects in CGI will loose its appeal probably.

CGI has taken huges leaps since JP3, but still, having close ups done with animatronics/puppeteering like in the original would really push the quality higher.

Yeah but the cgi still won't look like you can touch it.

Considering the film was confirmed to be called Jurassic World since September of last year, shouldn't the title of this thread just be "Jurassic World" rather than "Jurassic Park 4"?

Here's a fun fact - the director of JW, Colin Trevorrow, has probably the single largest leap in budget for consecutive films. His previous film, Safety Not Guaranteed cost a mere $750,000 to make, while Jurassic World has a budget of $150 million. Also worth noting, this is by far the largest budget for a Jurassic Park film yet.

Wait, I thought Isla Nublar was bombed after the events of the original Jurassic Park to get rid of the dinosaurs, that's why the sequels took place in Isla Sorna instead. I guess that was only mentioned in the original books and is non canon with the film continuity (and possibly makes the Telltale game non-canon, since the bombing is mentioned there too).

Anyway, I'm not sure what to feel about this movie. I thought the first one was a great film, the second one was terrible (Mostly because the heroes were a bunch of stupid jerks who kept getting people killed and preached about how wonderful and natural the dinosaurs were, even though they were artificially created and can only survive by living in an environment made for them, and all they ever do is kill people. Also who killed those people on the boat carrying the T. Rex to the mainland? Was it the T. Rex? How did it escape and why did it go back to the cargo? At least Roland Tempo was pretty awesome), and I can't remember a single thing about the third film other then the Spinosaurus killing the T. Rex in like two minutes. I'm not really expecting much, but hey, who knows?

Also the only character from the original film to come back for Jurassic World is Dr. Henry Wu. Who's Henry Wu? Well, he was the Asian guy from the scene where John Hammond showed everyone the velociraptor egg hatching, and then never showed up again (He had a bigger role in the book though). I guess his actor was the only one who wanted to come back, and he's going to have a bigger role this time around.

That was only in the books, as far as I know. The rest I semi-agree on, except I thought JP2 was okay, but much worse than the original.

From what I understand about what I read about it a long time ago is that the titular park finally gets opened for business. Considering the fiasco surrounding the park's original tour and that time T. Rex rampaged in San Diego, I'm surprised InGen actually still went ahead and continued with the idea of a dinosaur zoo. Assuming InGen is involved but whatever.

Also the park includes tamed raptors. Which actually doesn't seemed too farfetched an idea, so I'm kinda looking forward to that.
I've known about this since last year. This isn't exactly a recent announcement.

The movie's about nuclear dinosaurs invading the world and a narwhal has to defeat them.
