Our series 2 theme is here! And it is: --Escape from Hollow Earth-- In 1894, a group of British explorers discovered an enormous fissure in the bottom of a cave. Although a cave of that depth should have been sweltering hot, this fissure brought a cool fresh breeze and a hint of pale light from below. As they made their way deeper, they were astonished to discover a vast network of open caverns with gigantic flora and fauna living within. But their initial fascination soon took a frightful turn, as they began to realize that in this subterranean biome EVERYTHING was a massive predator - even the plants! Now the intrepid explorers need to escape with their lives, and hope that their intrusion doesn't accidentally bring any of these beasts back to the surface world! Over the next 3 months, we will be designing & producing two themed decks which represent the forces living within Hollow Earth, as well as additional kaiju who inhabit it. AND WE NEED YOUR HELP! In - theme kaiju should broadly conform to the following guidelines. You can stretch these at your discretion, but the theme team has final say over whether or not a given concept is "in-theme" or not. 1 - These creatures are all organic species with a life cycle. No one-of mutations : they all reproduce and create offspring, which grow and replace the parents. Feel free to be creative with their life cycle details! Giant killer vegetable species encouraged! 2 - These creatures have not had any contact with the surface world in millions of years. So nothing can relate to humans, or human events. No ancient gods, no myth-based creatures, no abandoned Mechs, etc. 3 - Everything here is primitive / savage / feral. No genius civilizations or highly evolved dinosaurs. It's all in a "state of nature" as some might say. 4 - Hollow Earth has a light/dark cycle, has aquatic areas, and is big enough for flying things. But all or nearly all kaiju WILL have the "subterranean" designator. 5 - MOST IMPORTANT! - Everything in Hollow Earth is part of a food chain. That means that your kaiju species eats kaiju ( can be creative about how "eating" works ) and is eaten by others. This food chain mechanic is meant to be a new mechanic for these theme decks. So there are no "top" predators in Hollow Earth - everything is on fairly equal footing. Once we've selected our winners, the Theme Team will be discussing & deciding which winners eat which other winners - the idea is to form a circle out of our winners. So you should NOT design any specific elements about where you kaiju sits in our food chain - the Theme Team will be deciding that for you.... Muwahahahah!
