    We need an Ultraman mega thread, and part 2 of my review just went up! 2 birds one cup I mean stone!

    What does Ultraman have in common with Ghostbusters, Creature from the Black Lagoon, Predator, and Schindler's List?! Hit up the review to find out! https://monstersconquertheworld.com/2017/01/24/ultraman-2/

    Also/instead, let's talk Ultraman in general! I can't wait to (eventually) watch X and Orb, I hear non-stop awesome things about them.

    I loved it! :)

    Some of the stories were a bit spooky, far out (as in far-fetched) and over the top ;)

    Sounds perfect to me!

    FUCK YES. I knew CR had a bunch of Ultracontent, but I didn't know if I had to buy a subscription or not. This is... the best news. Really excited to get more Ultra in my life. I don't want it to take over the blog (I'll take an Ultrabreak when Skull Island comes out and after I finish plowing through the original season), but I'm geeked to watch it just for funsies.

    It's funny how my newfound appreciation for Ultraman and pro wrestling are both happening at the same time: it's easy to see what they have in common. I'd love to see an Ultra warrior (or similar giant-hero) that fights like Rey Mysterio.

    I've actually come to liked Ultraman more than Godzilla considering the vast amount of content, Ultras having more character than Godzilla, and the Ultra Series main themes are quite encouraging. Not to mention the theme songs!

    Indeed, I feel the same way too, especially since I've been exposed to it first, the music is catchy, and the EDF always do their darndest to stop the monsters before ceding control to Ultraman, and sometimes they come to his rescue :)

    I haven't reached a point where I like Ultraman better than Godzilla, but I see why it's such a long-running and beloved phenomenon. The camaraderie of the genuinely likable human characters and the full-on heroism of Ultraman himself is super charming and a definite change of pace from Godzilla and other monster-led franchises. Ultraman's upbeat and optimistic tone is really refreshing and unique. Plus its TV show format allows them to explore a wider variety of stories and creature concepts. Good shit!

    I completely agree, Ultraman's optimism certainly feels unique. I've never found a happier Tokusatsu show or franchise, and I doubt I will. Anyway, I'd to throw a shout out to an interesting Ultraman related channel I've found, Ultraman Explained.

    Basically videos where this Ultra nerd gives bios and random trivia about random Ultras and kaiju. I find them interesting because the Ultra Fandom doesn't have a lot of stuff like that, nor do we have a place to gather. The guy is really nice, and plans on reviewing Ultraman content, starting a podcast, and starting videos on theories in the Ultra universe. Worth a look.

    So guys personally who are your favorite Ultras? How many series and movies have you seen? Favorite theme song?

    So far my favourite Ultra is Ultraman Tiga, of which I've seen the most episodes as compared to Ultraman Dyna.

    I've watched:
    - Ultraman Mebius and Ultra Brothers;
    - the Ultraman Tiga movie where he faces off against 3 bad Ultramen on an island;
    - bits of an Ultraman movie where the main character and one of his GUTS crew mates land up in some underwater haven;
    - an Ultraman Dyna movie where Dyna gets killed, then brought back alongside Tiga by children all over the globe to face a giant boss monster; and
    - another movie where a wish-fulfilling stone is used by kids to summon 3 Ultras to face off against a monster they accidentally created using the same stone (all in BM dubbing).

    I would be the first on this thread to say that the Ulrra Universe is somewhat in same context as D.C. and Marvel, and I feel as though there should be crossovers between the Ultraverse and any sort of title: Steven Universe, MLP, Undertale, etc. Like, Ultraman and Unltraseven only popped up onto American broadcast for a good time and then vanished, with only Ultraman Tiga to appear on 4Kids, then that was that.

    I'd definitely be interested to see a crossover between Ultraman and either Marvel or DC. Both sets of superheroes have their fair share of kaiju-style super monsters in their rogues galleries (Marvel's even doing their "Monsters Unleashed" event right now), it'd be rad to see Ultraman lend his expertise in handling Fin Fang Foom or Titano.

    Since we're talking about ultraman id like to bring up the fact despite it being so happy, its had some extremely gruesome and dark moments.

    That is no joke! I just rewatched Operation Electric Stone Fire (Episode 9 of the original series) for the blog, and it's all fun and games until Ultraman starts tearing poor Gabora's meat-petals off. I'm starting to see where Redman's cruelty comes from...

    Also speaking of Ultraman crossing over with Western superheroes, here's Ms. Marvel name-dropping our favorite silver space savior:

    1:05-1:30 easily one on the most graphic deaths in the entire franchise, and just wait till you get to what he does to poor gomora in round 2.

    Well thats not much of a debate, hes practically the Godzilla of the Ultraverse. He even has his own show.

    More like one of the most graphic deaths in a widely-aired TV show! I saw that clip randomly online years ago and it freaked my shit out. It really stuck with me.

    It's surprising because I love horror movies and 80s action flicks: two genres famous for their emphasis on high-intensity gore. I think it's the context that weirds me out. Extreme brutality in a slasher movie or a Schwarzenegger splatter-fest? Sure, of course, that's like half of why I'm watching in the first place. That exact same level of blood-gushing, gut-splattering horror... on a children's TV show? Shit's kinda unsettling!

    That said, I totally respect and enjoy it. It just still manages to shock me. It's the same weird feeling I had when I accidentally caught Evil Dead II on TV as a kid (except that time it was extreme gore being treated like wacky comedy instead of being treated like a kid's show).

    I didn't know Gomora had his own show! I'm excited for him to pop up on the original show. As of now my favorites are Pygmon, Jamila, and Baltan, probably in that order. Red King is super awesome too, and Dada gives me the fucking creeps for reasons I can't really articulate.
